FAQs

I have never done yoga before. What should I expect? Oh you lucky duck, you have so many wonderful things waiting for you here! Briefly, expect to work in bare feet, to sweat a little and to pay attention to what your body is telling you. Eventually, you will go through your complete range of motion to find where your limits are and how to move past them. It is a careful process but you will most likely enjoy it very much.

Ok, so what do I need? Bare feet and an empty stomach are key – try not to eat about two hours before class. Wear something comfortable but not baggy – leggings or shorts and a fitted shirt is great. Other than that we have all the equipment you need to take class.

What else should I know? Arrive at least 15 minutes in advance of the start time and be sure to avoid wearing anything scented – perfumes, lotions, hairsprays, essential oils, etc.  It is best not to bring in your phone. Shoes are always left on the rack outside the studio before entering. Changing rooms are available inside our studio.

Is yoga a religion? Yoga is not a religion. It is a means of taking care of the body and mind to achieve and stay in the most perfect health available to us. We do no worshipping in this class. Eventually, however, yoga can be used to strengthen your relationship with your religion or your god on your own time.

I can’t even touch my toes. Certainly I’m not a candidate for this class? Would you like to be able touch your toes? Then you should start practicing yoga! Nobody starts lifting weights because they are already strong, right? We can guide you through your limitations to help you meet your goals. With regular attendance you and your toes could soon become best friends.

I have several injuries. Is yoga safe for me? Dana is trained to help those with myriad injuries and limitations. As long as your ego will allow you to accept modification in the poses you will be just fine. Whether you’ve broken a bone, had a joint replaced or even if you’ve been kicked in the head by a horse, you will be safe in this class.

I’m pregnant. Do you offer prenatal yoga? We do not separate our expecting mamas away from our classes. Just as you still fit nicely into the world when you are pregnant you fit just as nicely in a regular yoga class! I am well educated and equipped to make sure you have a comfortable and safe yoga experience through all stages of pregnancy. Be sure to let me know of any concerns or limitations you have before starting classes and we can make this very enjoyable and accommodating for you and your developing baby.
